About the Distribution Code and the Software in this book --------------------------------------------------------- Because the code is periodically reviewed, a most up to date release of the code may be available at the author site http://www.tcnd.com/download/. The book uses three set of code archives: - WASBOOK Code Distribution (this also contains ch18_aat.pdf mentioned in Chapter 18, and the README_PART_III.TXT file) - Gramercy Toolkit (60 days trial period and totally free for non-commercial use) - WASLED / WASMON the WAS Monitoring application (60 days trial period and totally free for non-commercial use) Downloading the Code -------------------- 1. Download WASBOOK Code Distribution Edition. You can save the downloaded file anywhere on your local disk. To download the code go to http://www.tcnd.com/download and download one of the code archive: wasbook-edition1.N where N depicts the release number of the reviewed code. The release number may be more current than the book edition number or current print number. 2. Uncompress and extract the downloaded file (for example 'unzip wasbook-edition1.0.zip', or use the WinZip utility on Windows, or use 'tar xfz wasbook-edition1.0.tar.Z', or use 'tar xfz wasbook-edition1.0.tar.gz'). This will create a directory named BOOK, with a set of subdirectories showing a chapter of the book. By default, the BOOK directory will be created in the same directory as the downloaded file. 3. If you are root and you are working on your own workstation, then make a symbolic link to the directory where you have extracted the code so that /BOOK will appear as your distribution code directory ('ln -s /directory-of-extraction/BOOK /BOOK'). The text and the README files refer to each chapter code relative to the directory /BOOK. 4. Change directory to /BOOK and read the README.1st text file.
